The World Health Organization has called for a moratorium on covid-19 booster shots until the end of September to help vaccines reach poorer nations facing shortages. Wealthier countries with widespread vaccine coverage should prioritise sending doses those shortages before they start administer extra their own population, senior WHO officials said 4 August.1 “These populations need urgently, especially health workers, older people, and other vulnerable groups,” director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, told reporters. “And yet even while hundreds millions people are still waiting first dose, some rich moving towards doses.” Four billion have been administered globally, but more than 80% them gone high upper middle income countries, which make up less half world’s population.
